Bar Bamboosh Grand Opening, new late night dessert spot Insomnia Cookies, and exciting city events all happening this May

Bar Bamboosh NOW OPEN

Bar Bamboosh at 122 E Houston St.

Bar Bamboosh is now open on East Houston Street! Sandwiched between the recently opened Kaedama Battleship Noodle Bar and Royal Blue Grocery, Bar Bamboosh is laid-back, a little cheeky, and very into good wine.

From the restauranteur that brought you Little Death on St. Mary’s Street, Bar Bamboosh focuses on natural wine (funky, fresh, and alive) with plenty of traditional and classic options too! Grab a glass, stay for a bite of their Spanish inspired tapas, or grab a bottle (or two) to go.

Insomnia Cookies NOW OPEN

Also joining Bar Bamboosh on East Houston Street is the late night dessert spot, Insomnia Cookies, known for their warm delicious cookies available for delivery till 3am!

Enjoy the classic chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, M&M, and double chocolate chunk cookies or dip your toe into their seasonal offerings like Cherry Limeade or Wildberry Ube.

The offerings don’t stop at cookies, eat your way through their ice cream options, brownies, and so much more!

Friday, May 8th, check-in @ 5:30pm, race starts @ 6:30pm

The City’s Office of Historic Preservation is back and inviting you to face off in the ultimate urban scavenger hunt: The Amazing Preservation Race!

The only race of its kind -- think CBS’s Amazing Race but in historic downtown San Antonio. Teams of 4 must follow clues and complete challenges to fill their passports before racing to the finish. The first team to cross the finish line with their completed passport wins!

What to Expect

  • The challenge locations are top secret and spread apart. Expect to run/walk around 3 miles during the event.

  • Racers may use their cell phones to decipher clues and complete challenges.

  • The race must be completed on foot. No transportation beyond walking or running is allowed (no scooters, ride shares, etc.)

Prizes

Teams are encouraged to be creative with a team name and costumes! Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, and the team with the best costume! Teams that register by April 8 will receive a custom bib with their team name printed.

After Party

After crossing the finish line, racers can enjoy some food from Pinkerton's at no cost. Celebrate your accomplishment in Legacy Park with food and music, and stay for the award ceremony!

Ferris Bueller

Friday, May 15th at 8pm

Kick off summer with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in Legacy Park! Just after the sunsets kick back and relax on our gorgeous lawn for a movie under the stars.

Insomnia Cookie will be selling delicious cookies right in the park for your convenience. Patrons 21+ can pair that with a drink of their choice from Pinkerton’s Barbecue inside bar.

Comfy Adirondack chairs will be set out in the park and are first come first serve. Park visitors are more than welcome to bring a blanket, chair, or cushion to enjoy the movie!
