Rodeo season starts downtown this weekend, and the Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive is the kind of event that feels like a true San Antonio tradition. If you are coming out on Saturday, here is a quick “know before you go” guide, plus a few reasons to keep the day going in the Downtown West area afterward.

Know Before You Go

When: Saturday, February 7, 2026

• 9:00 a.m. Stampede 5K at Milam Park

• 10:55 a.m. Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive begins on Houston Street

While you’re out in Downtown West this Saturday, swing through Legacy Park for a little extra fun. From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., there will be a mechanical bull plus a lineup of local vendors serving up everything from food and treats to jewelry and homeware.

Stay A While

Once the last longhorn passes, you are already in a great part of town to turn it into a full sunny Saturday. Downtown West is walkable, easy to bounce around, and perfect for a “parade, then patio” kind of day.

Grab cocktails at Double Standard if you want something easy and classic

If you’re already on Houston Street, you’re basically at the front door of Downtown West. Stick around and turn it into a sunny Saturday with a few easy stops nearby. Grab a drink at Sojourn and keep it going at High Praise, or head to Double Standard for a classic cocktail. If you want something more casual, Leo’s Hideout is an easy move, and Paris Baguette is perfect for a quick snack or pick-me-up.
